SIM Registration Law FAQ

How to register your SIM card and why you should beginning this December 27, 2022, both PREPAID and POSTPAID users.

In a nutshell:

  • Registration is FREE of charge
  • SIM Cards will be DEACTIVATED when failed to register within 180 days
  • Help fight online scammers and spammers

Where to Register

For NEW and PREPAID customers, you need to register here:

POSTPAID users need not to go through the registration since your information are already stored in your telco. Your telco will just provide you with a confirmation notice for you to agree with the registraion.

What is needed:

  • Full Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Sex
  • Present / official address
  • Valid ID

List of Valid IDs for SIM Registration:

  • Passport
  • National ID
  • SSS ID
  • GSIS ID
  • Driver's License
  • NBI Clearance
  • Police Clearance
  • Firearms License to Carry / Possess
  • PRC ID
  • IBP ID
  • OWWA ID
  • BIR ID
  • Voter's ID
  • Senior Citizen's Card
  • UMID ID
  • PWD ID
  • Other valid government issued ID with Photo

For user aged below 18 yrs old (minors)

  • Any of the above mentioned IDs
  • Parent's or Guardian's consent to register the SIM

For Businesses: Certificate of Registration

For Foreigners:

  • Passport
  • Proof of Address in the Philippines
  • Return ticket to own country

Why is this important?

The purpose of Republic Act 11934, or what is called Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) Registration Act, aims to provide accountability for those using SIM cards and aid law enforcement in tracking perpetrators of crimes committed through phones. Due to the anonymous nature of the current sim cards bought in stores, scammers use this to their advantage. Many fall victim to phishing scams through SMS messages
